Recruitment Program Manager
Mary was born in Madrid, Spain at Torrejon Air Force Base. Being in a Military family, home was in many places, but Austin has been her true home for the last 20 years. She loves Austin's big city, small town atmosphere. Mary has 25+ years of HR/Recruiting management experience. She started her HR management experience with Target in California and then transferred here to Austin. When the opportunity arose, she joined the City of Austin in 2007 as the Recruitment Program Manager. Mary plans and oversees all strategic recruiting and marketing efforts, manages all Civil Service hiring cycles, employee engagement, retention, and recruitment outreach events. In her spare time she loves going to concerts, traveling in her airstream, and hanging out on the back porch with her husband and dog.
Rance is a native Texan and after attending Texas Tech University moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. In Santa Fe, Rance served as a Firefighter Paramedic for 7 years for the city. He returned to Texas in 2001 and began his career with the City of Austin as a paramedic in early 2002. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and has been in Recruiting since 2013. In his spare time enjoys camping, cycling, painting art and always looking for the next travel destination.
Recruitment Administrative Assistant
Veronica was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado but headed over to Texas as soon as possible. She grew up in San Antonio and attended college in the Dallas area, but Austin is where she now calls home. Thanks to having a medic husband and a paramedic father-in-law, both employees of the department, she was introduced to Austin-Travis County EMS years before working in Recruiting. When she's not assisting in hiring processes and recruiting efforts, you can find Veronica exploring local hangouts and trying to keep up with her 7-year-old daughter.
In 2017, the Recruiting Ambassador Program was created to provide current Field and Communications medics the opportunity to assist the Recruiting Team with event coverage and travel, social media content generation, ride-along requests, hiring process promotion, and more. To date, we have 16 Recruiting Ambassadors that support recruiting efforts in addition to their regular duties.
